About NIDA
Novel Initiatives for the Deaf in Africa (NIDA) is a programme under Novel Initiatives for Development Foundation (NIDEF).
NIDA supports Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals through sign language-supported training in financial literacy, entrepreneurship, business finance, digital skills, customer service technology, and job readiness.
The programme was created to address the barriers that limit Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals from accessing financial education, practical skills, workplace preparation, and economic opportunities.
All NIDA training activities are delivered in sign language-supported formats to improve understanding, participation, and inclusion.
A programme under Novel Initiatives for Development Foundation (NIDEF).

NIDA exists to reduce these barriers by creating practical, accessible, and community-driven training opportunities.
- Limited access to financial education
- Limited access to sign language-supported training
- Low exposure to digital tools used in modern workplaces
- Exclusion from customer service and support roles
- Limited access to entrepreneurship support
- Limited access to inclusive job readiness programmes

200 registered Deaf participants.
In February 2026, NIDA carried out a pilot programme that recorded 200 registered Deaf participants.
The pilot confirmed the need for accessible training in financial literacy, digital skills, and economic empowerment for the Deaf community.
This experience continues to guide how NIDA designs its programmes, builds partnerships, and expands its work.
